Ancient Dawn comes from Kuusamo, a town located in North-East of Finland. It started in 1994 as a cover band, covering bands like Annihilator, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Trouble, Black Sabbath etc. However, in short period of time they began to write own songs, too. There was a couple of years without anything to mention, until 1998 A.D. got a new lead singer. Right away started to happen, more rehearsals, new songs. In January 1999 Ancient Dawn went into a local studio and the result was "Goodbye"-demo including four songs. They got some good feedback but nothing conclusive. Second guitar player left Ancient Dawn at spring 1999. He was replaced by a keyboard player (ex-Sacrificion) resulting a considerable change in overall sound. Songs became more melodic than before. In studio (local again) the band went in January 2000. Sound weren't very good in "Journey Within"-demo, maybe due to very longwinded and stressfull time in studio. Still, demo was sent to record labels, but with no success. At the beginning of 2002 happened a lot, original bass player left Ancient Dawn. Show must go on, and fortunately a new bass player (ex-Drag-on, A.R.G.) was found immideately. At the same time the band took in sixth member,a second guitar player (ex-G-Cheese). Very quickly there was born new arrangements and songs. Demo 2002 " The Signs" was done in May in a local studio, again! It came out very well and once again the demo was sent to record labels. Still "The Signs" got into the hands of critics resulting good reviews in Soundi-magazine and Imperiumi.net. Despite the waiting Ancient Dawn wasn't idle, on the contrary they were writing new songs all the time. The goal was try a recording studio in Oulu, but before that A.D. did supporting job for Lullacry on theír gig in Kuusamo. A.D. hit the studio in June and spent there about a week. The result came out so well it was decided to master it properly in Finnvox. In July the work was done, "Promo 2003" was complete including four songs. Again the fishing nets were thrown into the murky waters where the records labels lie. Allthough A.D. got great reviews, once again, record labels didn't want to sign them. In the autumm of 2003 band did some gigs. Then 2004, it wasn't very productive year. Only two gigs were played locally and Kyösti R. left the band in August. No illwill were between guys, Kyösti just wanted to put his priorities into his other band. But, it didn't take too long as A.D. was 6-membered again. New blood, 19 year old Ville Kajava found his way into A.D. His learning pace was very rapid leading to his first gig with A.D. in January 2005. At the same time they begun to write new material which was recorded in May, at Tonebox studio, Oulu. As a result A.D. had three strong songs which will be presented to public and record labels this following summer. Some changes has come to our roster in the autumn 2005. The keyboard player has quit to consentrate to his main band Cyphosis. Summer 2006 Jarkko Poussu has left the Ancient Dawn, new bassplayer is our vocalist Marko
