LENA DUNHAM REVEALS BATTLE WITH ROSACEA

The 'Girls' creator and star writes in an essay for Lenny Letter: "My face burned, but not as badly as my pride."

Lena Dunham has always been open about her medical conditions, including her ongoing battle with endometriosis, and now she's revealed that she's also been dealing with rosacea.

The Girls creator and star shared in an essay on Lenny Letter, the newsletter she founded in 2015 with Girls co-showrunner Jenni Konner, that she's been suffering from the skin condition that causes redness and small bumps on the face. After "a course of steroids to treat a massive flare of joint pain and instability led to rosacea's appearing overnight, making me look like a scary Victorian doll, two perfect pink circles painted on her porcelain face," she wrote.

Dunham continued to share that after a night shoot, she went to wash her face, only to find that the rosacea "had become hundreds of tiny pimple-blisters that covered me from forehead to neck." She added, "My face burned, but not as badly as my pride."

he actress has since visited a dermatologist, noting that her handbag is "full of creams and potions."

Although she's sharing her medical battle for her own healing, she hopes that her story will allow "any young woman who might be watching to understand that nobody is immune from feeling bad about hateful attention."

Dunham joins a number of famous faces to be affected by the skin condition; Sex and the Cityalum Cynthia Nixon previously shared she's dealt with facial redness and singer Sam Smith has opened up about having rosacea.
