Kirjoittaja How does Religion, Philosophy, or Belief relate to Music?

I read up to catch up...a lot of thoughts developing...

I am left wondering about the fork...forking A!!!

It's only a fork because we call it a fork, without giving it a name it's just a shape, whether there is a word shape or not.

Without this tag, this word, how could we know what the designated shape and in general, its usage, was that refer to. How could we talk about a fork if we didn't even use the word fork?

...that long metal thingy with 3 or 4 prongs is real or not real...

It's so much easier to say fork.

Now...is the fork real or not? That our minds define the shape doesn't automatically make it real...

I like to think of it like this...Buddha said of reality and life that ALL is neither real nor unreal...that is, we can not say for sure 100% that it is real, nor can we say that it isn't real, because we experience it...

As I stroll through my mind to perceive as my limits allow, to succinctly express in my own way it is as such...

Real is relative...or as I connect REALitive, what exists within the relative Universe is real, yet relativity itself cannot exist without an Absolute Universe to relate its finite nature to, that being, that we cannot have finite without Infinite. Each makes the other's existence possible...

Does this make any sense?

Ian Stewart and Jack Cohen call that 'ontic dumping'. You just take all the concepts you need to make up an item and decide to sum it all up and give it a name ...'fork'. It's practical. Nevertheless, the fork exists whether it has a name or not. It's just easier to talk about it this way.

I agree...

Though regarding the fork, it only exists as a fork when we give it that name, otherwise it exists as a manifest or potential form or shape.

In German its called a Gabel, does that then mean that it is a Gabel and not a fork? What I am trying to express is the idea that it does not exist as a fork, a Gabel, or a haarukka until it is giving that name, prior to this it simply exists as the shape that it is without a name. Maybe this is a better way to put it...until we make the word fork there is no fork in manifestation, only the potential for such a name exists.

Well... yea. In a way I guess. But I bet the fork doesn't have any idea of all this.

But then again, even if we don't just sum the concept into a single word, the concept still exists. And the actual physical fork of course, too. The names are only shortcuts on the desktop in a way.

This post didn't really bring anything new into this conversation, but I just like to repeat myself over and over again, because I feel I get misunderstood often enough in ways I didn't see coming.

BTW, this was my first day of school and I am going to buy myself some new pencils!! Awesome!

I wish your studies all the success! I'd say more, but I am exhausted and want to visit the dream world, sleepy as I am.

I haven't got this yet, but why finnish ppl have to argue "by force" here in english? Speak on my son..speak on..

Besides fun, there's the matter of people from outside Finland.
For example Jozenbo here can't really join us in the Finnish forums, at least not yet.
So if we want them to be able to talk to someone outside their group of 2-5 (?) people we kinda have to keep some English banter going on.

Oh, I just checked out fast, that everyone in here are finnish and Jozenbo has messages in finnish lol, but I checked out again and noticed that all messages are "thank you" and "thank you becoming a fan" in finnish lol.

I am sorry I've been away for some time, I've been so busy with this new job and...a lot! My thoughts have not left this site, I've been meaning to get back.

Being so busy has slowed me down with the language project I began, though I had enough to begin experimentation with, and found out many things. For beginners, the words DO actually stick in the mind, after 3 days I could recall several of them without even trying to learn them...passive learning is interesting.

I also discovered that unless the words are the same size, the larger words grab the eyes first, making it harder to learn what was written smaller. To get around this, I began simply printing the text out, and now will be pasting it to the second map, this way all the text is the same size and I can make these maps much quicker.

I also learned that word to word may help to learn the words, but what to do with them...the grammatic rules...I was lost. So, in order to get around this, I have been putting together grammatic text sentences, and can now fit around roughly 5,000 words on a single map. This means more work getting the map ready, but once it is, it is free for the world to take!!! I am not in it for the money.

One of the primary reasons behind me choosing to learn Finnish first is the music I found on this site! This is an incredible site, much of the music is like medicine for me, soothing my mind in one way or another.

I know I've used a lot of thank yous, can't say more at this time...yet. I stopped using the previous map because I figured out the flaws and hopefully the next map will be better! Then I CAN join in the Finnish Forums, which I look forward to doing! I will have to be patient with myself, even if others are not patient with me...it takes a baby a long time to grasp a language after all.

Hmm... is the word 'gallup' really unknown to english-speakers? I didn't even think about that.

Seems like google finds mostly finnish pages with the word 'gallup'... even tho the gallup organisation is from the us if i'm not wrong.

It is not adviced to use that word in English just like we use it. In finnish original invertors trademark "Gallup" has turned into a common word. Something like finnish words "Singeri" or "Heteka". In english that is not the case. Gallup is a poll mady by George Gallup's company.

Well, music is one way to express your opinions.

Philosophism, Religion and different types of beleiefs are opinions. Sometimes they are taken to the extreme and aren't really made in the good sense anymore. I usually take this stuff as a joke, but deep philosophic lyrics which use alot of metaphors are really good and shows the intelligence of the band.

It's easy to go wrong with intentional symbolism, though.

Yeah, maybe. But I still do like reading these lyrics and try to form a structure around them. One good example is Gojira, which's lyrics are either really symbolic or metaphoric. Don't know which one But oh well.

Well yeah, I think you're right; it's good to leave room for interpreting, too. I guess I confused metaphors with symbolism here. I find the latter one quite hard to come up with properly. But maybe it's just me.
