Kappaleen sanat

Late to work
trifles come first
your eyes transfixed
don’t see the falling brick
your world has paused
unlike your game of fun
you can’t get anything done
you are too busy killing time

Child still asleep
has to make his own meal
has to fend for himself
daddy is never any help
Everyone left to their own devices
a bench of four, not a single word is said
back home, all the flowers are dead
no one sees or fears this safe crisis

This dictator doesn’t have a face
he makes you believe you have lots of space
he brings you comfort, he brings you joy
he gives the impression he is just a toy
he is always there
without a single break
ill or busy, holiday, Saturday,
Sunday, all day long

If you forget about him for a while
he is sure to make an impaling groan
no need to fear a friendly smile
he’ll keep you company for evermore
his grip never lets go of your hands and your eyes
the approaching truck is just a background blur
when he’s gone, you curse your lack of help
when you are gone, someone picks him up where you left off

He is willing to give you every key
but he will hold on to every lock
you decide which buttons to press
but he decides where they take you to
always knows what you want in advance
he takes you the way that suits him the best
every repeated hardship is just another test
you say there are no strings, but then why do you dance?

The nation of silence has a single goal
every new invention makes their eyes glow
their life is a farce which repeats itself
the devices they hold are such a godsend
so many ways to go about a task
ten days of choice, one second of action
everyone has the same immediate reaction
the power of the world is on everyone’s palm
But who controls whom?
Who controls whom?
Who controls whom?
Who controls you?
