"When I start planning a score I imagine what I would personally want to hear in a film. The end result isn’t necessarily exactly that, especially not if the director has a very different point of view. Luckily, though, a lot directors trust the composer enough to give them some freedom because after all, the composer’s main job is to create only music and he might know better what a certain scene needs. The director is often swamped as it is and doesn’t necessarily have enough time to focus on every detail. Sometimes it can be a good idea to bring your own ideas forward even if the director might disagree."
