Soul Corner has been established in 1999 by ex-Kotiteollisuus & Nanaimo Bars guitarist Aki Virtanen who currently resides in Istanbul, Turkey. Soul Corner play alternative rock, which has influenced from any music styles between hard rock and post-punk
Nanaimo Bars (previously the Nobodies) was established by Aki Virtanen and Canadian-Finnish vocalist Leila Ronkainen in 1998 during the time Aki still played the lead guitar in Kotiteollisuus (Home Industry).
Aki Virtanen is a Finnish guitar player who currently lives in the largest European city, Istanbul, Turkey. He has played guitar for 24 years and has had two separate recording contracts with a Finnish label Megamania.
Together with his two previous alternative rock-bands, one performing in Finnish (Kotiteollisuus), one in English (Nanaimo Bars) he recorded one longplay and several singles that have been played on radio both in Finland and abroad. Aki has also recorded one independently published longplay with his alternative rock band Soul Corner and is currently recording their 2nd album, as well as cooperating on project-basis with musicians from Turkey, Germany and the USA.
Aki, as a self-learnt musician, has played a variety of music styles including heavy metal, hard rock, blues, jazz, classical and flamenco. He has composed over 300 songs including instrumentals.
