there was joy and laughter in his eyes
he was running around and around in circles
and he seemed to have so much
only three years behind but already had it all

just as most of us, you may soon be losing it all
when you step inside the boundaries and stop dreaming
when we have verbalized enough to define ourselves
it's the words that take the lead instead of what's below

and no longer will we run

it's so easy to forget my reason for being here
it doesn't take a lifetime to lose hold of the sun
there comes the day when we just can't remember how we used to shine
and some of us will never find the way to it back again

but I know that at least I've got to try
