Slack Haddock: Numbers

Numbers 15
The Sabbath-Breaker Put to Death

32 While the Israelites were in the desert, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, 34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him. 35 Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp." 36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Just a simple man, a happy fool,
cause I love my newborn, love my wife too.

I need to keep them warm and give 'em food,
I'm so happy here gathering some wood.

They say I've done something wrong, but how am I supposed to know,
the ways of their almighty god, have mercy on my trembling child!

My son my wife they need me, they need the fire beneath the
cold and black desert sky, to keep away the night.

Please save me and my son, (I) was just trying to keep him warm.
Tell your people we meant no harm, show you're the god of love.

Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must die,
Stone him outside the camp." That serves him right.

Am I insane or is it you, I just can't believe this is true.
Killing me for gathering wood, I never meant to offend you.

I guess it's ok, for a god to rest the seventh day.
I guess I should've let my boy die, but now I'm afraid he'll meet you in the sky...

Stone him outside the camp. The man must die.
You know there's a reason why, the man must die.
