Is Paris Jackson making her modelling debut as the new face of Chanel

Paris Jackson, the late Michael Jackson’s daughter, appears to have landed her first major fashion job. She was photographed modelling in Paris at a shoot which is reportedly for a future Chanel advertising campaign .

Spotted on location at the Eiffel Tower today, she wore a white pussy-bow blouse and pencil skirt, waving French and American flags as she posed on top of an army truck surrounded by male model cadets - in fact, she looks like a mix between Madonna in the Eighties and Marilyn Monroe or Jayne Mansfield, both starlets who took their turns as forces sweethearts entertaining the troops. In other shots, she wears classic French Breton stripes and a silk scarf in her hair.

The 18 year-old has no prior fashion experience but appears to have landed what is probably the most coveted modelling job on the planet. Thanks to the Chanel blessing, Miss Jackson is now virtually guaranteed to be a star on the rise.

Chanel has a track record in spotting and nurturing new talents before they break. The fashion house's previous campaigns have launched the likes of Lily-Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart, Willow Smith and more bright young things to instant star status.

But beyond the initial hype, whomever Karl Lagerfeld deems worthy of fronting a Chanel advert will likely achieve a long-term fashion career, as his blessing often results in extended partnerships with the brand, as well as encouraging interest from competitors.

That relationship, for Paris Jackson, may well start officially at the house’s couture show on Tuesday as new campaign stars are regularly invited to sit on the front row, and enjoy even more exposure, as well as a nice outfit for the occasion. She may even make her catwalk debut in the show, as Lily-Rose Depp, Lottie Moss and others have done before her.

With almost a million followers on Instagram, Paris’s profile has been on the rise in the last month or so, after she turned 18 and made the decision to pursue an acting career. She made her first big red carpet appearance last week, attending a Golden Globes after-party with her friend Sofia Richie, the daughter of the singer Lionel Richie.

Aside from the odd Insta modelling moment, Jackson’s social media profile looks just like any other 18 year-old girl’s. It seems to serve as a moodboard of style references (Stevie Nicks and Baddie Winkle) and a place to document pictures from her travels (there are, of course, plenty of pictures of Paris in Paris).

Via Twitter and Instagram, however, Paris has been quick to defend her privacy, as well as her father’s legacy, after she branded Joseph Fiennes’ recent casting as Michael in new Sky Arts dramatisation as a ‘blatant disrespect’.
