Before going to the actual review, I think I should mention, that the covers are literally soaked in blood. When I read on the TTR-site that the covers would be stained with blood, I thought it’d be just a little stain. I was wrong; these are drenched in the red liquid.

Okay, with that being said, on to the actual review. What we have here are the French one man project Aymrev Erkroz Prevre’s two first demos on one tape, as if the title didn’t tell that much. Stylewise, this is ritualistic and occult ambient/noise, quite minimalistic and calm in expression, most of the time. There’s very little here for the mind to fix itself upon, and as a result, the audio on the tape feels more like a soundtrack for some eccentric horror movie than a stand-alone musical creation.

In fact, it would need something to go along with it, because the music is rather dull and unatmospheric, especially Demo I. I can imagine, that when reading a slow-paced, truly disturbing horror story, this tape would be most fitting as background audio, but as anything else than just background music, it’s too dull.

Demo II is better, there has obviously been some progress, but the same problem still applies: it’s too dull. There are a few truly efficient moments on Demo II, but sadly there’s still too few of them.

Overall, Aymrev Erkroz Prevre certainly isn’t bad, but since there are many more interesting projects out there, I would much sooner recommend some of them, than this tape. However, for those who have experienced all of that, and seek more music in a similar vein, this tape may hold some interest.
